Foundations for a Home Extension

This recent job saw the NW Groundwork team back in a residential setting, preparing footings for a new single-storey extension to a semi-detached property. The client needed a solid start to their project – and that meant getting the groundwork right from day one.

Working in a tight domestic space, the team began by carefully breaking out the old patio and preparing the site for excavation. With access restricted and utilities close by, precision was key. Using a combination of compact excavators and tracked dumpers, we dug out the trench foundations to the specified depth and dimensions, ensuring stability and compliance with building regulations.
With trenches open, a layer of clean stone was brought in to provide a firm base and improve drainage. All spoil was removed from site quickly and cleanly, keeping disruption to a minimum for the client and their neighbours.
Along the way, we also encountered existing drainage which required careful protection. Our operatives worked around these services without issue, thanks to a combination of experience, clear planning, and the right equipment for the job.
As always, the work was completed safely, to a high standard, and ready for the next stage of the build. Whether it’s for a large infrastructure scheme or a small domestic extension, NW Groundwork brings the same focus on doing things properly – on time, and with care at every stage.
