Some projects bring unique challenges, and this one was a perfect example. While the work itself was straightforward in scope, the challenge came from the restricted access at the property. Access to the rear of the property was limited to a narrow gap between buildings, leaving just enough room to carefully guide machinery through.
In situations like this there is no margin for error, and success depends on a combination of the right equipment, skilled operators, and a well-planned approach. With only a narrow space to work in, the team had to adapt their approach to make sure the job could be carried out safely and to the highest standard.
The project began with the careful demolition of the existing extension. Every stage of the work had to be thought through, from the safe removal of windows and walls to the clearance of debris. With no option for larger plant or vehicles, all materials had to be moved in and out with a small tracked wheelbarrow, while the micro digger was used to break out and prepare the site.
Once the demolition phase was complete, the focus shifted to excavation, where the new foundations were cut with precision. Working in such confined conditions required control, accuracy and patience to ensure the integrity of the property was fully protected.
